Our outside space is a bright and welcoming area that offers a wonderful extension of the learning happening inside. We use a free-flow approach for most of the day, so children can move freely between indoors and outdoors, building on what they’ve discovered inside as they explore outside.
The outdoor area is packed with exciting opportunities; including a water wall, music wall, mud kitchen, sand pit, and special zones with tuff trays, to give children plenty of ways to learn through play and hands-on experiences. It’s a place where curiosity grows and little imaginations run free!
Our preschool children enjoy their very own outdoor growing garden, where they can take their learning beyond the classroom walls. With a variety of plants and vegetables to care for, they learn firsthand about nurturing nature and the environment. This hands-on experience not only helps deepen their understanding of caring for the world around them but also supports their wellbeing by encouraging responsibility, patience, and a sense of achievement.
We’re lucky to have a hidden woodland nearby that we use for outdoor learning sessions. Here, the children get to be wild and free, exploring and discovering in a way that’s very different from a traditional preschool garden. It’s a special place where their imaginations can run wild, and they can connect with nature up close.
A big thank you to Rotherfield Village Parish for kindly donating our treasured woodland area. This wonderful space is such a special part of our outdoor learning and play, and we’re truly grateful for their support.
